Ride 5: Bringing It Home

As much as these rides were intended to raise money and awareness for SUDEP research and epilepsy, it was a chance to remember Anne in a positive way and have a bit of a celebration for her. A three years later wake, if you will.

The final ride itself was just a 26 mile ride up Michigan’s White Pine Trail from my hometown of Rockford to Sand Lake, where I lived until I was 3. We were joined by our friends Jennifer, Jeff, and Michael. That in and of itself made the ride noteworthy. Having people along made Lisa and I want to sit up and talk rather than putting our heads down and finish as quickly as possible. Thanks to them for taking time out of their evenings to get a bit of exercise with us.

I really need longer arms or another person to take this picture.

By the time we got back to Rockford and  The Rockford Brewing Company the party had already started. Many cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends had already started Raising One For Anne.

230 miles in 5 days complete.

My niece Catherine and my sister Bridget.

Aunt Terrie, Anne’s friends Erica and Trent, and cousin Mary.

Kiyon and the Walshes

My Dad, Uncle Don, and I deep in conversation.

This is my family - my one crazy family. (Missing: Marty and Maggie)

I’m happy to announce we exceeded our goal and as of this writing have raised $5,210 for SUDEP Research. Lisa and I are very thankful to all who supported this effort. We’ll be back again next year in some capacity. We will take a few weeks consider what we would do differently going forward.

Thanks again to all who donated and wished us well. Anne would be proud and tell me I look like a dork in cycling gear.

  1. So proud of you and Lisa, Sean. What a great effort on your part for organizing this event, I can't help but believe that Anne and SUDEP Research will be extremely happy with your donation.
